From “Gasthof Kassl” to a family-run hotel with a long history
The Haid family tree can be traced back to the year 1578. Kassian Haid alias “Kassl” lent his name to the “Gasthof Kassl” in the 19 th century. The history of the former inn is closely tied to the great-grandfather of today’s owners, Johann Tobias Haid. He also contributed strongly to the development of tourism in the Oetz region.
During his stewardship from 1880 to 1910, the “Gasthof zum Kassl” was at its peak. Running water on all floors and street lighting until 10 pm were some of the innovations attracting an affluent class of regular guests from nobility, the arts and politics to spend their summer holidays in Oetz.
Today’s owners of Posthotel Kassl are Anton and Waltraud Haid. They live and work in the hotel with love, passion and a great devotion to their guests. Regulars from all over the world appreciate the unique ambiance of the hotel. Year after year they return to enjoy the serene hospitality offered by their hosts, who are constantly striving to make their guests’ stay at Posthotel Kassl special.
